Field notes from a 6 pm Slack message
A glimpse into where the true company culture resides
challenge
Culture lives in task deliveries, corridor conversations, and interpersonal routines, not in an impactful phrase on a wall poster. The challenge here was to discover what their organizational culture was from the ground up.
The goal was to create a document that reflects the organizational culture, serving as a guide for new employees. This document will help them navigate the work environment and understand the core values. It will also be designed as a living document, allowing for flexibility and evolution over time rather than imposing rigid rules.
my role
methodology
Recognizing the behaviors that transform belief into action is essential for creating a strong culture.
I started by conducting interview sessions with employees, interns, and partners to understand how they perceived and described the culture in their own words. We used design thinking to structure the process, mapping every pillar, touchpoint, and testimonial in Miro. Then we outlined each pillar and its corresponding practices: onboarding, journey checkpoints, salary review, and peer feedback.
Organization, enthusiasm, and a deep commitment to documentation were crucial throughout.

kind words about this one
“I had the privilege of having Rafa on one of the main projects I led in my career to date, the construction of Nex's Culture Code. Her attentive and committed perspective, her high ability to manage topics and schedules, as well as the genuine intention to generate impact through our actions, were skills that allowed our delivery to be very valuable for the business, people, and for us as a team. It was my first experience 'leading' a person, and Rafa made it easy as we always had transparency, honesty, and horizontality as the pillars of our working relationship. It was a powerful encounter to have you on this journey, and soon our paths will cross again.”
